Faculty and Chairs
The Faculty of Philosophy, Philosophy of Science, and Religious Studies brings together teaching and research in a diverse and unique manner.
About the faculty
The faculty represents the discipline of philosophy in its full breadth. This includes a focus on the history of philosophy (especially ancient philosophy, Arabic philosophy, Kant and German idealism), practical philosophy (especially decision theory, ethics, ethics of artificial intelligence, action theory, and political philosophy), and theoretical philosophy (especially epistemology, logic, metaphysics, philosophy of mind, and philosophy of science).
In addition, there are research centers such as the Munich Center for Mathematical Philosophy (MCMP) and the Center for Ethics and Philosophy in Practice (ZEPP). Moreover, members of the faculty work on questions of philosophy of religion as well as issues in religious studies.
