Research Center for Neurophilosophy and Ethics of Neurosciences
Prof. Dr. Stephan Sellmaier
About the Research Center
Stephan Sellmaier is the head of the Research Center for Neurophilosophy and Ethics of Neurosciences, which forms a bridge between philosophy and the Munich Center for Neurosciences - Brain & Mind (MCN). His research and teaching are on questions from philosophical action theory (mental causation, free will, action control), the philosophy of neuroscience and neuroethics. The Research Center’s academic focus lies on the philosophical implications of empirical findings in cognitive science and the neurosciences.
The neurophilosophical dissertation projects associated with the Research Center are carried out at the Graduate School of Systemic Neuroscience (GSN).
The GSN offers an interdisciplinary and integrated study program for doctoral students and provides an ideal research environment for neurophilosophical dissertation projects. In addition to a large number of subject-specific courses, the GSN also offers a comprehensive “soft skills” program.
