Sophie Kikkert is an Assistant Professor (Akademische Rätin) at the Chair for Philosophy and Decision Theory, located at the Munich Center for Mathematical Philosophy (MCMP). Previously, she worked as a Fellow at the Center for Advanced Studies: Human Abilities, associated with Humboldt University Berlin. She received her PhD in Philosophy from the London School of Economics and Political Science (LSE) in 2022.

Research interests

Sophie’s research centres on topics in practical rationality, social philosophy, metaphysics, and epistemology. Her work addresses what it takes to have and exercise abilities, how we learn about our own abilities and options, and what role ability beliefs and attention play in practical reasoning. In addition, she has written about the relation between abilities, disability, and mental health.
