From Symmetry to Supersymmetry to Supergravity
Abstract:
The theoretical developments that ledto supersymmetry—first global and then local—over roughly sixyears (1970/71–1976) arose from a convergence of physical insightsand mathematical methods stemming from diverse, and sometimesindependent, research directions. This contribution aims toillustrate the interplay of ideas, methods, and motivations thatinformed the entire process and concludes with a reflection on the scientificmodality of these developments.
