Personal Information

Laura Valentini is Chair of Philosophy and Political Theory at LMU Munich and Visiting Professor at King's College London. She works in the areas of contemporary political and social philosophy, as well as ethics and philosophy of law. Her special research interests include global justice, democracy, freedom, (human) rights, political obligation, the methodology of political theory and the relationship between ethics and social ontology (e.g. the moral significance of societally constructed norms, the nature of "normative powers"). Her latest book Morality and Socially Constructed Norms was published by Oxford University Press in 2023.
