  • 1997 Doctorate in Philosophy at the University of Hamburg
  • 2003 D.Phil. in Theology at the University of Oxford
  • 2008 Habilitation at LMU
  • 2008 Professor of Philosophy at the Pontifical Catholic University of Chile
  • 2013–2020 Director of the International Academy of Philosophy in the Principality of Liechtenstein.

Research interests

Areas of specialisation: metaphysics, philosophy of religion, free will, causation, laws of nature.
Historical research: Christian August Crusius, Enlightenment, unknown philosophers of the 18th and 19th century.
Further areas of interest: Austrian School of Economics, Neo-Marxism, epistemology. mind-body problem, metaethics.
