Personal Information

Brigitta Arden is a research associate with the Rudolf Carnap Digital editorial project.

For a number of years, Brigitta Arden worked as an archivist at the Archives of Scientific Philosophy at the University of Pittsburgh. Within this role, she was responsible for overseeing and facilitating scholarly access to the papers of the philosopher Rudolf Carnap. To provide wider access to these papers, she learnt the Stolze-Schrey shorthand system, which Carnap used throughout his life as a primary tool to record his academic and intellectual body of work, as well as his personal observations in the form of his diaries.

At the University Archives of the University of Freiburg, her work was focused on the field of long-term digital archiving, as well as in national and international research developments and standardization models. She is particularly interested in the interplay between the digitization of archival materials for electronic access and the discoverability of sources, as well as interdisciplinary linkage within the field of digital humanities.
