Dr. Scarafone completed his PhD in philosophy at the University of Reading (UK) and is now a postdoctoral researcher at the Chair of Philosophy of Mind and Mi3 Lab at LMU. His research lies at the intersection of philosophy of language and psychology. He is especially interested in prelinguistic communication and cognitive development, as well as in systems of imagistic communication.
Understanding the Developing Mind: Normativity and Psychology (DFG Eigenestelle: 536841140). In this project, he investigates how very young children learn to communicate and coordinate activities with others, how these processes are related to certain kinds of social norms, and how their outputs may contribute to children’s growing understanding of other minds.
