I am a doctoral fellow at the MCMP under the supervision of Tom Sterkenburg and Stephan Hartmann. Earlier, I completed the MSc in Logic at ILLC, University of Amsterdam. Before that, I earned a BA in Philosophy from the HSE University, Moscow.
Forschungsinteressen
My research interests lie at the intersection of the philosophy of machine learning, philosophy of science, and philosophy of statistics. In my PhD project, I try to integrate existing philosophical approaches to scientific inference, explanation, and knowledge with the recent discussions of epistemic reliability in machine learning. At the moment, I am working on explicating the notion of inductive bias at the project "From Bias to Knowledge: The Epistemology of Machine Learning" (PI: Tom Sterkenburg). I am also interested in the concept of epistemic shortcuts (not only in the context of machine learning).
In addition to that, I am interested in the application of AI-based methods in mathematical discovery. I research how the existence of such methods changes our understanding of mathematical practice, as well as our understanding of the distinction between discovery and justification. In my MSc thesis, I addressed the place of mathematical intuition in AI-assisted proofs.
