Jingyi Wu

I am a visiting doctoral researcher at LMU Munich, hosted by Prof. Monika Betzler. I am currently a PhD candidate in Ethics at Nanjing Normal University under the supervision of Prof. Tao TAO.

My doctoral research focuses on moral attention, particularly on how individuals can overcome egocentric perspectives and develop a more adequate understanding of others in moral life. I am interested in why attention matters for ethical life and how our ways of perceiving others shape our moral understanding and responsibility.

My research explores moral attention as a fundamental moral capacity, examining the relationship between perception, imagination, and ethical agency. It investigates how failures of attention can lead to distorted perceptions of others and how attentive engagement with the world can contribute to more truthful and responsible forms of moral life.
