Hakan Genc obtained his doctorate at McGill University. His dissertation discusses the medieval Arabic philosopher al-Fārābī’s views on unity within his broader metaphysical project, and the earlier philosophical works, Aristotle and the Greek Aristotle commentaries, that informed al-Fārābī’s views on unity. He is currently a postdoctoral research fellow in the project on the Baghdad School, a group of Arabic philosophers from the 10th and the early 11th centuries, led by Peter Adamson. He is interested in logic, natural philosophy, and especially metaphysics in the ancient Greek and the medieval Arabic Aristotelian traditions.
