Alyssa Ney ist Professorin und Inhaberin des Lehrstuhls für Metaphysik und Forschungsdekanin an der Fakultät für Philosophie, Wissenschaftstheorie und Religionswissenschaft der LMU München. Sie erhielt ihren MA und PhD in Philosophie von der Brown University, ihren MS in Physik von der UC Davis, und ihren BS in Physik und Philosophie von der Tulane University. Bevor sie an die LMU kam, war sie Professorin für Philosophie an der UC Davis und an der University of Rochester. Professor Ney befasst sich in ihrer Forschung vor allem mit Fragen der Fundamentalität, der Einheit der Wissenschaft und der Interpretation von Quantentheorien. Sie ist die Autorin vonThe Fundamentality of Physics (Oxford University Press, im Erscheinen), The World in the Wave Function (Oxford University Press, 2021) und Metaphysics: An Introduction (Routledge, 2014), das jetzt in der zweiten Auflage erschienen ist. Außerdem ist sie zusammen mit David Z. Albert Mitherausgeberin von The Wave Function (Oxford University Press, 2013), Herausgeberin von Local Quantum Mechanics (Oxford University Press, 2026) und Autorin zahlreicher Artikel in philosophischen Fachzeitschriften, darunter Journal of Philosophy, Noûs, Philosophy and Phenomenological Research, Philosophy of Science, The British Journal for the Philosophy of Science und Oxford Studies in Metaphysics.
